Fans Think Amy Winehouse Biopic Missed Out on an Obvious Casting Choice
A biopic based on the life of the late singer Amy Winehouse is fast approaching its theater release date of April 2024, and the first trailer has been released. The movie is called Back to Black, and fans already have some opinions about the casting. The role of Amy was given to Marisa Abela, and some have expressed their views that a different actress would have been a better fit.
The Upcoming Film
The film will star some other people from Amy's life, such as Jack O'Connell as her husband Blake and Eddie Marsan as Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father. The film was given the green light in 2018 and will be Abela's first major leading role. It is expected to cover much of Amy's time in the spotlight. It will touch on her beginnings as a young singer in Camden, her first album Frank, and the second album, Back to Black.

It is expected that the movie will show the highs and lows of Amy Winehouse, including her battle with addiction. Her relationship and marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil will also be part of the film, and her tragic death in July 2011 will conclude her story. Sadly, the promising singer passed away at the young age of 27.
