Elton John Just Became an EGOT Winner
At 76, Elton John has accomplished yet another remarkable feat in his career. He has now secured all four major entertainment awards: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. It gives him the prestigious EGOT status. The achievement was sealed when he got an Emmy for the film about his concert Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium. It was awarded for the Outstanding Variety Special category.
Elton John Is an EGOT Winner
The term EGOT was coined by actor Philip Michael Thomas four decades ago. It was originally used for winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony within five years. Even though not even the producers of Farewell From Dodger Stadium expected the Emmy win, Elton John has now joined the elite ranks of EGOT winners, becoming the 19th entertainer to achieve this milestone.

Capturing John's 2022 farewell concert in Los Angeles, the special marked a significant moment in his career. Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler presented the award. Elton John was unable to attend the ceremony due to recent knee replacement surgery, and it's no wonder considering how much time the entertainer spent on stage throughout the years.
