This was a strong hint that she was actually working on a new album. Rihanna has not made new music since 2016, and an album is already becoming highly anticipated. It is certain that the Barbadian singer has been busy with her Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin brands and the birth of her first child. Rihanna teased her next album way back in 2018 during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Then, she told the audience that they would just have to wait and see. Fifteen months later, she was asked for an update and commented that people would still have to wait. Despite all that, some things are known about the singer’s new music. Apparently, #R9 will be inspired by her reggae and dancehall roots, and Pharrell Williams and The Dream are producing it.

One thing Rihanna has said about her new album is that even though she is now a mother, that wouldn’t impact her sound. In the same interview, she also remarked how her fans would not be happy if they waited this long to get a lullaby.
