20 Servers Share Their Experiences With Celebrities

Celebs & Their Servers

When you’re a server, you have to deal with all sorts of customers. After all, most waiters don’t have the luxury of choosing their clientele — and, unfortunately, not everyone treats the waitstaff the way they should. What about when it comes to our favorite stars, though? These servers dish out what their experiences with celebrities have been like.

Drew Carey

Drew Carey has long had the “funny guy” persona on television from roles in his own show, named after himself, to hosting jobs like that on Whose Line Is it Anyways?

When it came to serving him in real life, this bartender — OP’s cousin — wasn’t disappointed. Not only was he jovial and understanding with the staff all night but went out of his way to make sure that everyone got a monetary benefit from serving a star.

Shaquille O’Neal

Most fans probably want to think of Shaq at his more jovial points. However, that’s not exactly what this OP and their coworkers experienced when the former basketball player showed up to work.

It seems like the star wasn’t willing to comply with a very basic rule and got belligerent after that. On the other hand, this person also said that he was “otherwise great” and tipped well. Does that mean that he complied eventually, ate his meal, and took snowball revenge on the way out?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

On the topic of super famous basketball players, there’s another story that a server wanted to share. This time, it was a little more all-around positive — rather than good and bad.

This server walked up to their table one night to see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with his wife and son sitting at the table. How was it to work and wait on the NBA superstar? Well, according to this waiter, it was really a delight!

Gordon Ramsay

There are some things that you just hope for. For instance, that the guy who always yells on TV and complains about bad food won’t be too harsh during your dinner service. That’s definitely not the persona that this waiter dealt with.

After serving him, it sounds like Ramsay left an absolutely astronomical tip and even complimented the chef. We wonder if the chef was sweating when he first saw Ramsay enter his kitchen — we definitely would’ve been worried!
